What's new in Rifflog

Week by week since Rifflog opened to everyone on 31 May 2026

  1. Undo, redo and shortcuts

    • Undo and redo for your step edits.
    • Keyboard shortcuts let you move, delete, copy, paste and duplicate steps without leaving the keyboard.
    • Selecting a range works the way you'd expect: drag either edge to grow or shrink it.
    • Shared tabs now open full width for the people you share them with.
    • A fresh look for the Rifflog logo and a new brand green.
    • Chord of the Day now works through one key each week.
  2. New navigation and a Tools drawer

    • A new, simpler navigation bar that changes with the page you're on, with My Tabs and New Tab always at the top.
    • Tools drawer in the editor, on desktop, tablet and phone, so the tuner and chord tools sit right next to your tab.
    • Tablet and phone layouts built for fingers: a docked editor in portrait and audio controls on one row.
    • You can resize the editor side panel to suit your screen.
  3. A cleaner step editor

    • A cleaner step editor on desktop and mobile.
  4. Chord pages and look-ahead scrolling

    • Chord Shapes now gives every chord its own page, with the notes named.
    • During playback, the tab scrolls ahead so the next line is ready before you get there.
    • The tuner has a stop button and pauses when you switch away.
  5. Accessibility

    • Accessibility: every control shows clearly when it has focus, and you can move around the tab grid and edit it with a keyboard or screen reader.
    • Nudge a step's timing with the keyboard.
    • The tuner recognises bass and drop tunings and holds a steadier reading.
  6. Chord Shapes and Chord of the Day

    • Chord Shapes: look up every way to play a chord.
    • Chord of the Day is here.
    • Drag part tabs to reorder your parts.
    • My Tabs remembers how you last sorted it.
    • Audio uploads can now be up to 15 MB, and you'll see clearly when an upload is running or has failed.
    • Chord names read the way players say them.
  7. PDF printing and a magnifier for long takes

    • Print any part as a black-and-white PDF.
    • A magnifier for long recordings lets you scrub precisely through long takes.
    • New notation: natural harmonics and staccato.
    • Your phone's lock screen shows what's playing.
  8. Safer duplicating

    • Duplicating a tab saves your latest edits first, and you'll be told if a save fails.
  9. Bends and sections

    • Bends with amounts, plus pre-bends, releases and holds.
    • Sections let you split a part into labelled, collapsible sections such as Verse or Chorus.
    • New label symbols: sharp, flat, vibrato and harmonic.
    • A richer demo tab with several parts.
    • Audio you upload is guaranteed to play on iPhone and iPad.
  10. Fretboard video and smoother playback

    • Fretboard-style video export with a lit-up five-fret window, a vertical option and a left-handed mirror.
    • Smoother playback: the highlight lands right on the beat, and long tabs no longer slow the page down.
    • Recording from your mic sounds more natural.
    • Tab pages load without flicker.
  11. Video overlay export

    • Export your tab as a video overlay to drop on top of your playing videos: as a flat MP4, a PNG sequence, or a transparent .mov for Premiere and CapCut.
    • Shared tabs show who made them.
    • You get a warning before leaving a tab with unsaved changes.
  12. Sign in with Google or Apple

    • Sign in with Google or Apple.
    • A welcome email for new accounts.
    • The fretboard shows your capo.
  13. Install it, use it offline

    • Install Rifflog as an app, and keep editing when you're offline.
    • Move around the tab with the keyboard, and drag to change fret numbers.
    • A focused editor on mobile.
    • Fixes for audio scrubbing on iPhone.
  14. Recording, a tuner and free tools

    • Copy, paste, duplicate and select a range of steps, and drag steps to reorder them.
    • Record audio in your browser, with a live waveform.
